Overeating is a personal and individual condition. People have weight problems from different reasons, simply because their lives and their experiences are unique. So you must select the methods which will work for you. Most effective will be to use several different techniques together. Here are several methods of dealing with overweight.

1. symptom substitution : You can use posthypnotic suggestions to replace one eating habit with other eating behaviors, such as chewing gum or eating carrots instead of sweets.

2. symptom transformation : This similar to symptom substitution, but it transforms the problem symptom into a less objectionable one without addressing the nature of the problem itself. You can use posthypnotic suggestions in order to change you compulsion to eat into actions which are beneficial, such as physical exercise, work or different interests you may have.

3. symptom amelioration : You can directly reduce the overeating with posthypnotic suggestions aimed at teaching you that you are in control and you can deliberately eat less.

4. symptom utilization : You are encouraged to accept and change your eating habits instead of denying or attacking them. You can instruct yourself to eat less and less.

5. thin meditations : These mix up together the above four methods. You develop a special focus of awareness on your thoughts and feelings surrounding food and eating and naturally you choose to eat healthier.

Self-hypnosis has meditative qualities and many of these methods are like meditations with posthypnotic suggestions. These suggestions you give yourself should be in your own words. They must be positive and also you may add some posthypnotic cues.

For example: “When I feel hungry or when my body tells me to eat in some other way, I can use that desire to motivate me to make 10 push ups. I will fell much better and more energetic than eating a chocolate cake. I will enjoy the exercise much more than eating.”

You should not expect miracles with weight loss hypnosis. Expect results that can last for a long time, if you are determined to succeed in the battle with weight. This is a way to change your life, to motivate you in having a healthier lifestyle which leads to weight loss.
