WEIGHT LOSS HYPNOSIS – EFFECTIVE OR NOT?
When you hear the word hypnosis, you think of the many opinions that surround this concept and you are confused, not knowing what to believe exactly. Even if hypnosis is an effective method for losing weight, most people do not know very much about it.
Hypnosis can be defined as a modified state of the consciousness, artificially induced. It is a state very similar to sleeping and facilitates a series of modifications at different levels of sensibility, memory, thought, suggestibility, etc.
Weight loss hypnosis is used to change the patterns and the way the human body responses to the food habits, practicing a sport, etc. The new behaviorism models are assimilated by the subconscious and they are turned into automatisms.
It works like this: before the hypnosis session, you are not able to control your lust or itch for eating sweets. Or you always abandon a diet half way. Or even the thought of going to gym seems too hard, or you are simply bored.
But after the first hypnosis session things are beginning to change. You are taught that eating excessively is not good for your health, that exercise is indispensable, that healthy food and the ambition to finish a diet are absolutely necessary. During the session, the learning process is very quick and the wrong patterns of behavior are forgotten.
Many studies have tried over the years to evaluate weight loss hypnosis. It is difficult to determine its exact usefulness but one thing can be surely stated, that is hypnosis alone cannot make wonders for your weight problems. It is not a magical cure. But combined with a diet and a lot of exercise, it contributes effectively and significantly to weight loss. Hypnosis works like a psychological reinforcer.
Hypnosis may assist you in learning positive eating behaviors and creating healthy long-term patterns, but you must not see it as a quick and easy way out of weight problems. The only people who claim hypnosis is easy, simple, and quick are those trying to sell people on their program. Weight loss tapes lack scientific evidence to support their success. You should bear that in mind when buying them.
Hypnosis should be considered effective for weight loss only when combined with another form of treatment, because it is all about changing your eating behavior and your attitudes about food. Weight loss can happen only with nutritional awareness, long-term exercising, changing your emotional ties with the food. Hypnosis can help you achieve these goals.
